Marcus is Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatric Respiratory Medicine, Immunology & Intensive Care Medicine and Cystic Fibrosis Center at the Charité University Medical Center Berlin, Germany. He received his M.D. from the University of Freiburg, Germany, and completed postdoctoral training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA, and the University of Heidelberg, Germany, where he joined the faculty until his relocation to Berlin. He is a physician-scientist and specialist in pediatric pulmonology and one of the founding directors of the German Center for Lung Research (DZL). Marcus Mall’s research focusses on mechanisms of mucus dysfunction and airway inflammation, and novel therapeutic strategies for cystic fibrosis and other muco-obstructive lung diseases.
